The Three Spires Singers

The Three Spires Singers are recognised as one of the best choirs in the southwest. Now a 100-strong auditioned group of keen musicians, the choir was originally formed in 1981 by Richard Hickox for the inauguration of the Three Spires Festival. They have performed with a number of national orchestras and ensembles, and made several broadcasts for BBC Radio 3. They set up their own orchestra of local instrumentalists in 1990.

Concerts

The choir gives around four concerts a year, usually in Truro Cathedral. The repertoire spans some 400 years and includes all the major choral works in addition to rarely performed or commissioned pieces. The Three Spires Orchestra, consisting of many of the finest players in the southwest, usually accompanies the choir.

Workshops

Three Spires Singers organise a Come and Sing day each January, with Paul Spicer, an eminent composer and choir trainer. 150 singers of varying standards are welcomed, and learn and perform a choral work. A more advanced workshop for experienced singers is held in September.

Joining Us

We welcome new choir members. Any singer may come to a rehearsal to see if the choir suits them, and may proceed to full membership following an audition.

Supporting Us

We are a registered charity, and we rely on the support of our members, volunteers, sponsors, friends and patrons to produce first class music events at affordable prices.
